Explanation of the different width fittings

English-made men’s shoes (and boots) are generally produced in width fittings E, F, and G. Between the different width fittings of the same shoe size, there is about a 1/4 inch difference in circumference.

E = Narrow (also known as a 5 fitting)
F = Regular (also known as a 6 fitting)
G = Wide (also known as a 7 fitting)

Although there is no absolute standard for width fittings, there is a general sizing chart. Loake shoes are made as closely as possible to that “standard”.

The majority of Loake models are produced in F width, as statistics show this is the most suitable size for most men worldwide. In addition, we also offer some shoes in G width.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the right width fitting.

Size advice

These shoes fit true to size and are comparable to, for example, Van Bommel and Crockett & Jones. In the description of the last (below), you’ll find more explanation about any deviations in how this specific last fits.

Need help choosing your size? We’re of course happy to help. Contact us via WhatsApp or give us a call.

Delivery time explained

We order the shoes directly from the factory. That’s why our shoes have a slightly longer delivery time than you might be used to.

By ordering at the request of a customer, we keep our stock small and are able to offer a wider range of shoes without ending up with unwanted surplus inventory.

About the brand

Loake

Loake is a British family business that has been producing handmade men's shoes in Kettering, Northamptonshire, since 1880. The brand is known for its traditional craftsmanship and the use of high-quality materials, particularly in the Goodyear welted construction, where each pair of shoes takes up to eight weeks to manufacture.

Loake offers a wide range of models, including brogues, oxfords, loafers and boots, which are suitable for both formal and informal occasions. The shoes are made from premium calfskin and suede, ensuring durability and comfort. Thanks to the Goodyear-welted construction, the shoes can be resoled multiple times, significantly extending their lifespan.

At The Shoe Care Shop, we have an extensive collection of Loake shoes, including models such as the Sedbergh boots, Aldwych oxfords and Chatsworth Chelsea boots. These shoes combine timeless style with craftsmanship and are an investment in quality that will last for years.
